Cameron up in the Highlands!

So I was up in the mountains.. Erm or highlands or hill.. watever it is, I visitted Cameron Highlands recently, 26-27 Dec, spent a night there. Jolly it was a wet visit. Was drizzling the whole morning of the 27th which kinda kept me indoors as the fog was thick n being a tropical guy, I found it really cold! Was most prolly 18 degrees.

Visited the Boh tea plantation, Cactus valley and Buttefly farm.

Well before I get into tht, here are some creatures from the highlands.

Fireworks with KM Dynax 5D

Well a fren called yesterday enquiring "How's Sony's A100?". For those who are not aware, it's Sony's 1st DSLR. In a nutshell, Konica Minolta (KM) sold it's photo imaging division to Sony somewhere 1st quarter of this year. Was like bout a mth after I got my KM Dynax 5D. I was like wtf?! But then again KM had always sucked in marketing. So with Sony's muscles, the legions of Minolta die-hard fans now have hope.

Sony acquired certain technology from KM when it acquired the mentioned division.

So me n mua fren spoke briefly ovr the phone... This morning she got a Canon EOS 400D. I've got nothing against it. Nikon, Canon, Pentak, Fuji, Sony they all make fantastic entry level DSLRs. I naturally asked, why? Tho she had always been eyeing the EOS, she mentioned tht the sales dude said Sony's shutter speed was slow, thus taking fireworks shots will be "cannot".

I was like wtf was he talking about?! Here are some shots I took with me KM5D, essentially the base of Sony's A100.

Essentially it's technique. Time you are willing to spend to learn how ur camera works.

Oh yeh he also said the Canon's 50mm f1.4 lense is selling for RM200 plus while Sony's if gg for above RM2000. Anyone wanna clarify this? I cudn't even b bothered...

x'mas dinner at Debbie's part 3

Aight, everyone's tummy's filled, wat's next? Let's take some shot shall we?

Kelv & Deb - goodness look at the perfect match.. even shows in photos..

Deb & Swee Yin - Best of frens!

Shin & Peh Ling - Newly weds!

Kelv & Jason - Brokeback mountain style bay beh~

Simply luv this shot where Deb looks like the world is non-existant!

x'mas dinner at Debbie's part 2

Everyone's hungry, perhaps only those who had the instant noodles ain't there yet... But I was starved.. With all tht food staring u at the face!!!

Part of the food, more coming!

Wat's this? dun care, eat 1st ask later.. someone wanna help me with this?

Eat, talk later.. dunno wat's this either..

Look at the man trying it out with the bird. Well later Shin took ovr and spend the rest of the bird's meaty life slicing it up for the others.

Luv this shot, take a look at the kid..

Aunty Wong made us chicken curry - Slurp~ and Aunty Tan (I think tht's her name) made some Shepherd's Pie - Nothing beats home made! The rest? Well it was Deb!

Awesome stuff I tell u, simple to kill for. Tho most of the time I didn't know the name of the dish I was shoving up my mouth, they tasted real good!

x'mas dinner at Debbie's part 1

The party starts with a lil posing..

Kelv with the end-of-year pose

Shin with the sumthing-up-my-arse pose

While those 2 are posing, Deb's putting the finishing touches to her pie. Gawd she n Kelv must b part time chefs!

Turkey anyone? Home made! So there'll b a lil xtra charge aight. Take a better look, it's duck! The wings are a dead give away. Hey, we've got a bird too aight!

This wasn't part of the plan. Some ppl got hungry and decided some instant noodle will do just fine!

Any dude forgot their nuts? As the background tells, dinner's abt served!

Wat tasted like fine crackers to me. At this point they were taking their own sweet time to get all puffy.

Wat's tht smell? Sumthing's burning! Deb "Argghhh my bread!". The fella actually smoked!

Look at em pressies laying nicely waiting for the rightful owners.

x'mas dinner at Debbie's part 0

Deb's throwing a x'mas dinner at her plc. w00t w00t!

Why the excitement? U blind? Look at the chiq ya'll!

Must admit it totally skipped my mind to take a shot of the venue haha~ Can anyone blame me?

We all deserve to pamper ourselves every now and then. Oh shucks tht's just a fregin` excuse. My Seiko was giving way.. It was time for the young padawan to.. !

Box with sarung kaki.

Sarung kaki removed.

Back of the box where a catalog and the history are slotted in.

Voila! Comffy looking pillow huh..

Anyone wanna take a nap?

Hidden side pockets!!! Manual, warranty, etc are slotted in here.
Ain't she a beauty?
Verdict? A very worthy buy..

VAIO here but where's the thrill?

Phew after many phone calls, a few visits, finally I got my hands on what was mine. This whole experience has made me think how these HUGE organizations ORGANISE their shit.

Got the notebook on the 14th when I was told by Sony's CCC that I would only recv it on the 18th/19th. That's weird. Sony Malaysia's giving me PC speakers as a token of sincere apology. It didn't come with the notebook on the 14th.

Ok took the notebook, made sure I had the 5 years warranty card, well tht was the 2nd drawing point beside it looking sexy n all. What I forgot, and the Sony rep. at Best Denki did as well, was to give me my 2 scratch n win vouchers! So dum dee dum I returned the next day, and what?!

"Sorry sir we don't have stock for the vouchers, why don't u leave ur num. n we'll inform u once we have the stock."

With all logical sense, wat's this?! ok these vouchers may be controlled items bla~ bla~ bla~ but hell what will the customers recv for those who buy smaller items like the walkman and mp3 players where stock is ready ovr the counter? Mainly, why on earth did they not send the damn vouchers with the notebook?

Frustrated I was I lodge the 3rd complaint to Sony's CCC. I expressed getting this notebook was even worse than getting my apartment's S&P done with!!! Imagine tht!

Ah the phone rang... and I'm asked to go to Sony's HQ to collect the PC speakers and Vouchers... myself... at my own cost...

Does that sound logical to any of u?

I'll be there later this afternoon... I give in, let's get this done with.

Sony Malaysia.. Best Denki.. what can I say?

Friends from Hanoi, Vietnam!

When I was in Hanoi during the last quarter of 2005, I was on foreign soil. Where the language was nothing but broken notes to my ears. Dat was then and is still the main engineer for the project that was ongoing then. He was one fella who made my stay in Hanoi a memorable one. Taking me on his bike around the city. Rounding the lakes. Taking me to hidden (but the best) cafes. Basically showing me around, introducing the culture... Ya know... he show'd me the shit!

He was here in KL on the 8th Of Dec. for his honeymoon. Never did I have the chance to meet his wife when I was in Hanoi.

Never did I really mention about the 'women' there. MMMMM HMMMMM... u gotta b there to do tht with me!

The newly weds!

ding ding dong dong still no Vaio

Well I'm still without my Vaio. Where's the fella?

Purchased on the 7th, promised delivery on the 9th, posponed to 'maybe' 12th.

So I was pissed, man is it tht hard to give me an exact date? The worst thing u can do to a customer is to set a date and not fulfill it. To top tht, there's no certain date that can b given.

Come on we're working with Sony and Best Dengki here, there's bound to be some kinda logistic system somewhere.

Customer purchase > chk stock > set delivery date > inform customer > deliver the gawd damn thing > call customer > customer collects.

Ok so is it Best Dengki? Sony? Where's the confusion?

The ppl who answered the phone ovr at Best Dengki certainly weren't the frenliest bunch. Called them a few times until this morning I demanded for a delivery date and guess wat? The person finally had some brains to say "Well contact Sony to get the date, then we'll call you."

Come on I'm not calling just to ask for stock availabilty. I purchased the damn thing.

So I wasn't satisfied and called Sony's Customer Contact Center (CCC) ...

Oh shucks I don't even wanna go there.

I just want my Vaio...

Pavilion or Vaio?

I need a laptop. Ok I need a machine, cud b a desktop or a laptop. I wan a laptop.

The hunt begun. Was narrowed down to;

A bargain - Compaq Presario v3000 range
Cool deal - HP Pavilion dv2100 range
Premium - Sony Vaio C Series

I asked ard and got really mixed opinions. Heck I was confused! I simply luved the Vaio, but the Presario was giving a much better deal, at RM100 more, I was getting double the memory, a step up for processor speed and a nVidia graphics accelerator!

But it was the Vaio's looks tht grabbed me by the balls. I looked at both the Presario and Vaio like a zillion time feeling the both of them.

In the end ... the battle of logic over lust is over ...

Yada yada ... wat's logic when lust takes ovr? The intense ... the immense pleasure one will get ovr lust ... as opposed to ... yeh I shud get this becoz it's better ...

I got my very first Vaio!!! Exactly as how Sony advertised it.

Can't wait for Saturday, when I'll drop by Best Dengkiu to claim me prized possesion!!!

Oh yeah for this promo period (8th - 10th Dec 2006), u'd b getting free 1+4 years warranty only available at Best Dengkiu 1U. So pop by and chk it out ya'll!

Chance or Choice?

This is a forwarded email that I received some time back. Have kept it ever since as it makes total sense:

When we meet the right person to love when we’re at the right place at the right time, that’s chance. When you meet someone you’re attracted to, that’s not a choice. That’s chance.

Being caught up in a moment (and there’s a lot of couples who get together because of this) is not a choice. That’s also a chance.

The difference is what happens afterwards. When will you take that infatuation, that crush, that mind-blowing attraction to the next level ? That’s when all sanity goes back, you sit down and contemplate whether you want to make this into a concrete relationship or just a fling.

If you decide to love a person, even with his faults, that’s not a chance. That’s choice. When you choose to be with a person, no matter what, that’s choice.

Even if you know there are many people out there who are more attractive, smarter, and richer than your mate, and yet, you decide to love your mate just the same, that’s choice.

Infatuation, crushes, attraction comes to us by chance. But true love that lasts is truly a choice. A choice that we make. Regarding soul mates, there’s a beautiful movie quote that I believe is so true about this: Fate brings you together, but it’s still up to you to make it happen.

I do believe that soul mates do exist. That there is truly someone made for you. But it’s still up to you to make the choice if you’re going to do something about it or not. We may meet our soul mates by chance, but loving and staying with our soul mate is still a choice we have to make.

We came to the world not by finding someone perfect to love… BUT to learn how to love an imperfect person perfectly…

the genesis

Blogging seems like a personal diary with a twist, instead of keeping it private and in the closet, we can choose to open it up to the public. What would interest others (friends alike) to actually take time to read what I call my rants and ramblings?

Well I figured it cud be kinda easy, ya know, why dun I typed it all out? When a person wants to know I'd point the fella to the blog? Kinda makes sense dun it?

Well so I decided to give it a shot and off I went googling a blog site. Hey blogger.com kinda integrates kinda seamlessly to my gmail account. All the merrier!

Every journey begins with?
