Baba House

Baba House in Malacca is a no frills boutique hotel. For the price I paid, RM95 nett with 2 breakfast, I'd call it one heck of a deal!

It's located right behind the street where Jonker Walk is. Very convenient if you're in Malacca for the weekend and wish to pay Jonker Walk a visit.

2.196561, 102.244821 rough coordinates from Google maps. The hotel's along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock while Jonker walk's on Jalan Hang Jebat.

Main doors.

My first panorama attempt with the 40D.

Right opposite the front desk.

The back of Baba House looks modern and this is where we park our cars. Looks like it was built and joint to the front portion eh?

Guest lounge, the Peranakan way!

These windows remind me of the chinese movies/drama where the prostitutes wave and call out with their ever melodious voices trying to lure business. Alas, there was no such thing..

Rise n' shine! Still no lady waving..

There are a number of hotels along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, while I can't vouch for Baba House, I would say I had pleasant one night stay.

Drinks and Dinner at Station 1 Bandar Puteri Puchong

We first headed to Station 1 in Puchong, the one behind Maybank, opposite IOI mall, kinda. It was closed, so we headed to the branch in Bandar Puteri, still in Puchong..

After food, Leong got a call, whipped out his notebook and started to be anti-social.. he managed to pull a smirk for the camera tho~.

Koh Sing playing sudoku.. she's a sudoku nut case.. such a cutey eh? With the pouty lips..

Ange dunno doing what.. dun remember.. ;-)

Where are some shots of the food? Well I'll say this place is good for a hang out joint to catch up, the food's only OK..

CHEERS!

Reversi @ Station 1

I suck at this game. The last time I played this game was with Ange at Friendster and she laughed so hard at me. Well I was really terrible at it..

Nice fingers eh? The touch of defeat I say! Bwahaha!

I win by a tiny margin! 38 white pieces! Still I won.. *pat-on-my-own-back*

Lambency Flash Diffuser at work

We've seen some examples of it's use and effects on the net. How about a test in a uncontrolled environment by a plain Joe?

The Lambency Flash Diffuser with it's domes. I used the clear dome for the photos below.

1/60 sec at f2.8, ISO200. Flash in manual mode, dialed in 1/64.

Flash pointing to the left with Lambency Flash Diffuser..

Flash still pointing to the left, with the diffuser removed..

Flash bouncing off the ceiling without the diffuser..

These shots are not good, but it demonstrates the Lambency Flash Diffuser at work.
1) Light evenly distributed
2) Underexposed
3) Prominent shadows

Manual mode

So E-TTL is something very convenient. Itchy fingers took me to manual mode.

Set Mode to M, dialed in 1/64 to the 580EX II..

1/60 sec at f2.8, ISO200.

Looks underexposed ya? Somehow I kinda like these shots..

Let's increase the exposure in Adobe Lightroom by 2 stops..

Electronic Light

I'm still toying with my flash gun, I reckon I'll be doing that pretty often in the few days to come. It's fascinating!

LLM Trafik

Kenneth pointed me to a rather interesting webby. LLM Trafik, Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia(Malaysia's Highway Board/Authority) . What's so interesting you may ask?

REAL TIME TRAFFIC UPDATES!!!

Choose the highway, choose the camera, click "View Image", the rest you can guess ;-)
