Ayam Panggang Kenyalang

It was a lil more than a couple of months back when I read this article in the papers. I seldom believe newspaper/magazine writeups on food, just too many bad experience. But I decided to give this a go.

So one fine day off we went to hunt for the place.. it was indeed a hunt.. many wrong turns.. asking the locals didn't help that much..

We ended up calling Awang himself when we were just about to give up..

What I can recall is to locate the "Church of Visitation"(on your left). Follow the road until you reach a junction with a "Fire Station"(on your left). Take a left at this traffic lights equipped junction. Head towards "Ampangan". From there you would see a signboard saying "Pantai" to your left. Take the left turn and I presume you're on "Jalan Pantai" as the article mentioned. However I didn't see any road signs saying that was indeed Jalan Pantai. Soon you'll see a "Petronas gas station" on your left. Awang's stall is on the right of the gas station.

No coordinates this time mates.. At the time of this writing, I can't quite locate this place on google maps.

It's easy to miss Awang's stall, as I did so too causing me a couple of U-turns before calling Awang.

Pasta Zanmai @ Mid Valley Megamall

Sushi Zanmai now Pasta.. this place serves Italian Japanese fused with abracadebra.. The results? Magic! Ok I must admit I ain't a fussy fler when it comes to food. As long as it tastes good to me, it goes well.

It was me buddy's birthday and I insisted, well kinda insisted that we buy him dinner at Pasta Zanmai. While the rest hadn't visited the outlet before and knowing very well my "low-standards" of satisfaction, they were rather sceptical of the place.

Even after being seated, they still spoke of my 'low-standards'..

Until the food came.. until they bit into it.. until.. they shaddap for the rest of the evening on the topic.. even mentioned I'm a changed man (sense the sarcasm in there?)..

Putrajaya

Hmm it's been some months since I last blogged, mainly due to my Vaio being sent back for some repairs early December.. and guess what? Vaio has still not returned to me. Say what? That's like 3 months?! Yeh, tell me about it.. bravo to Best Denki for it's "marvelous" service. That's another story all together.

So.. Malaysians know/have heard/have seen/have awed this city named Putrajaya. Many of us say it's an overkill. Once u enter the city.. u soon feel.. like u'r in a different world.. vast structures with architertural perfection(at least from the outside) greet u with arrogance.

These structures look cool in the day.. they turn into gems by dark..



Space is not an issue..


Putrajaya is too renowed for it's creative bridges. Say what? Creative bridges? Only one here..


This lake side where cafes and restaurant welcome you for a relaxing meal..


Central park? Maybe not, here's where families father and have a good time in the evenings. Badminton free style, footbal, u name it, u'd perhaps see the kids giving it a go..


Many more structures and landscapes that a 4 hour visit cannot cover. I reckon we'd need many more 4 hour sessions to cover Putrajaya's beauty..

Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2008

KLPF imho was a success! My concerns when paying such events a visit would be;

• Order
• Punctuality

I simply find it irritating when an event isn't organized properly which one of the all time fav. excuse would be "We didn't expect such a large crowd" or somewhere along those lines.

If it there was a program, most often than not, the audience would be kept waiting.. for whatever reasons, technical fault, presenter late, etc.

KLPF aced this! Seats were provided with ample of room to stand around. Program was on schedule with the presenters watching the allocated time. Only one that I saw loved the crowd so much that he seemed to have forgotten the time and exceeded. Not exactly a bad thing tho~

No photography event would be complete without a (or a few) model shootout sessions. Amber Chia was even invited fora full hour ;-)..


While the photogs were busy struggling and snapping away... I was amused by how the looked from one level up.. Slow shutter to allow some movements..


It was hillarious! Seeing the long lenses and human heads turn from left to right n then right to left in unison was extremly glorifying!


There was one ever willing, filled with tonnes of histroy and memories model that posed for the camera, but it wasn't my finger that released the shutter..


I'm looking forward very much for next year's event!

Kelv told me of this place that had delicious cupcakes but only opens during the day or perhaps early evening. Fat chance for me visiting this place after work. Kept slipping my mind on the weekends till yesterday when it just came popping in!

A cuppa cap or latte would cost ya RM6, pretty decent price eh? What I don't understand is, however wonderful the cupcakes tastes, does it justify it's high price tag of RM4.50 per piece or RM17 for 4 pieces? pssst~ it's a really small piece..

For those who have tried Cupcake Chic at The Curve, the cupcakes from +wondermilk's a tad bit smaller.

How do I like the cupcakes? I like em pretty much. Altho Kenneth says they are too sweet, they seem to fall into the sweet-but-not-too-sweet league for me tooth.



I simply love the deco, the moment I stepped in it felt very cozy! Kudos to the IDs!

If u look carefully, there are quite a few lomo cameras for sale, lomographer in the haus?

lookout carefully as you may just zip by this lot without as much as noticing it's existance! I'd blame it on the humble signage, it's dark colored background certainly doesn't help.

Ampang Lookout Point

This has been in my to visit list for quite some time.. Finally I decided to take advantage of the festive season and pay the place a visit.. Ampang Lookout Point, bird's eye view of Kuala Lumpur city!

night before "let's do sunset!"
2 hours before departure "where's the darn fireball?"
30 mins before arriving "ok we ain't seeing no sunset.."
upon arrival "yawnnn~"

We decided to try out the western food joint, aptly named "KL View Western Food Restaurant". Packed..


And the rain came, and the already crowded restaurant became more crowded with visitors cramping in to get out of the rain whilst waiting for a table..

With the crowd nearby.. like really near as we were seated nearer to the entrance, the meal was no longer enjoyable.. well the food wasn't great, not one I'd recommend but we could chill with the cool refreshing breeze.. that was no longer an option. With eyes gawking on ya, as if telepathically trying to ask u to leave once u've stuffed ya face..

Armed with an umbrella.. we made our way.. and made this..


Then it struck me.. how about the heart shaped bokeh?

Lanter Display at Taman Muda

I caught this piece of info. from last Friday's paper. It was a quarter of a page write up. Buses arranged every half an hour, etc. So hey let's have a look!

40KMs drive.. in the slight rain (it had been raining almost the whole a'noon).. had lovely fried hokkien mee.. had a good time trying to find the park, there were a few parks around Taman Muda's market.. ya wonderful directions given from the article ;-)

It was still drizzling when I arrived.. bummer, drove all the way, die die I'd have to at least take a look.. armed with me umbrella.. I made my way into a semi-flooded park.. patches were covered with plastic for 'easier' maneuver..

Messy.. very messy.. but tht's the weather.. aha! There it is..

O_o .. a shack.. with lanterns cramped like sardines..


Pretty neat.. food covers.. reused!


This is one hell of a messy one, I can't even make out what it is from this foto, but it's water world with 2 seahorses in the center.. gotta give it to the creator for the effort..

This fler's a dragon with some kinda mechanism moving it.. made of metal, it was making a hell lot of noise..


Lights look like bees? Egg carts used to make up a bee's hive? A insect eating plant to complete nature?


I think I'm old school... I like this so much more..

There was a stage setup with emcees.. weird.. coz they seemed to be talking.. but I couldn't hear anything even tho I was merely 20m away..

People with umbrellas everywhere.. puddles of water everywhere.. mud.. oh I spotted portable toilets.. a plus at least..

I really wonder how it would've been if it hadn't rained.. only if..
